Dear mispallelim of our בית מדרש,
As we prepare for זמן חרותנו, there are middle class families among us who are struggling and are unable to manage the heavy expenses of the חג.
We are taught in the very beginning of
הלכות פסח, אורח חיים סימן תכ״ט סעיף א׳,
the residents of a city are obligated to provide for the poor through the sacred fund of מעות חיטין, so that every Yid can celebrate the סדר with dignity.
At this time, we are opening our קמחא דפסחא campaign in order to help supply the essential יום טוב needs of these families — מצה, wine, clothing for the children, and all the many necessities of פסח — so they too should rejoice in the סדר night בדרך חירות, like royalty, with nothing lacking, בעזרת ה׳.
We turn with a heartfelt request to each member of our קהילה to please give generously according to your ability. Together we can bring שמחה, relief, and יום טוב light into many homes.
In this great זכות, may we all be זוכה to celebrate פסח with true joy and מנוחת הנפש, and may ה׳ grant us that already this year we will partake in the קרבן פסח and in the rebuilding of the בית המקדש, במהרה בימינו, אמן
